Thing 3 Branding
Well I have Googled my name, which is a very popular name and used by people from a wide range of professions and countries with quite a few Librarians. Thankfully found nothing too awful or embarrassing. I suppose my style is outwardly quite calm and collected (hence the purple and the birds) but really I'm paddling along furiously. I'm quite a cautious person and I'm quite careful not to post anything on the Internet that I would not want my Mum or Employer to see. I don't have a great online presence, I am on Facebook, but that is all - I'm sure that will soon change as I work through all the things. I don't think I want to add a photo at the moment - maybe later if I'm feeling brave. I'm sure as I go along like others I will revisit Branding and make changes to the "profersonal" style of my Blog that I'm aiming for.
Thing 2 Following other people's blogs
I have been looking at some of my colleagues Blogs which look really interesting. I have also had a look at some of the other CPD 23ers Blogs to see what their experiences have been and they are really encouraging and inspiring. I already follow some Blogs for my work like the one from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation which is both interesting and thought provoking regarding current issues and events. Like my colleague Siobhan I was interested in seeing what was going to happen when Occupy Cardiff arrived last Friday and followed them for a while. Must have a look at other Library Blogs too...

My first Blog
I am working as a Government Librarian in Cardiff. I mainly deal with Education enquiries. I saw the cpd23 things poster at the CILIP conference at Hatfield and was interested in learning more. Some collegues in work were interested too and set up a time for doing the 23 things. I am hoping that the things I learn will help me in my work i.e. to communicate current awareness bulletins better, but also to add to my professional knowledge as you often feel that technology is moving so swiftly you will soon be left behind. So far so good...
